This project fulfilled in the heart of Moscow is a fantastic example of how different seating solutions can be combined the same space. We faced the customer’s requirement for two venues: one big and one small where different type of events could be celebrated within hours in both of them. So, while the big hall was designed as a magnificent auditorium, the small one was agreed to follow the criteria of a lecture hall. However, both should have the possibility of being transformed in minutes to offer different uses – government meetings at the auditorium and receptions at the small hall.
This great project was carried out into the building without affecting the work of the Ministry: two complete floors were totally affected by the refurbishment works that created the two big spaces required. A great auditorium divided into Stalls and Balcony as well a small venue in the basement furnished with custom design chairs.
So, in the Stalls area we installed 239 Space Lux chairs with Automatic Kangoo system that conceals them under the floor in just minutes. Meanwhile the Balcony was supplied with 24 Space Lux chairs with Parliament system in both corridors and 99 fixed chairs at its rear part. Finally the small hall of the basement was supplied with 54 Space Lux Matrix chairs – mobile type in sets of 3 chairs with 2 transport carts. And we do not only used 4 different versions of the Space Lux chair but also completed them with 3 different width and 2 height.
The most spectacular part of this job belongs to the chairs operated with the automatic Kangoo system: both the side groups of 3,4 and 5 chairs and the central ones of 13 and 17 units are concealed under the floor – where a system of metal boxes is laid. The whole system is controlled by a tablet used by the customer: all chairs may be individually displayed or concealed as per his wishes.
Similarly, the solution used for the corridors of the Balcony is also innovative: all chairs are individually mounted over an aluminum rail inserted into the floor. All chairs are aligned by the balustrade so when the spectator selects one he brings it to him, takes a seat and moves towards the location selected. Once the spectator stands up, the chair comes automatically back to its original position.
Summing up, a multi purpose hall that may change the distribution in just 15 minutes thanks to the combination of options and models proposed.
