The new Alhóndiga Bilbao is located on the framework of the former warehouse & market of wine & beverages that the municipal architect of Bilbao Ricardo Bastida designed in 1909. It has been converted into a cultural center in the hands of the French designer Philippe Starck after an investment of 75 million euros. The Alhóndiga chair was designed to work both for an auditorium and a conference hall. The large writing tablet for the conference sessions had to be concealed when being as performing arts chair. All chairs, installed in curved rows with air ventilation between the standards of the chair, are alligned to the center and match the materials of the building.
